The Logline: Join Tim Stotz of the eponymous timstotz.com and his band of face-rocking, ninja correspondent creatures known as the Chitlins for a slumgullion of FCC-unregulated, offbeat comedy gold; documentaries, and art in convenient, shiny video form. Just what your lifestyle needs, ribmeat.
This VODcast is just my friends and I having a bit of fun, and showing the rest of the world some of what goes on in ours. We've got a MySpace group now too: http://groups.myspace.com/theprogrum
If The Progrum seems too small, try the Quite Def link at the bottom of the page, if its too big, notice the Phone link in the very top left corner of the page. If you want to direct download The Progrum's media file to your compy, there is a direct link under the video. Control click (Mac) or Right click (PC) and youll see a pop up context menu that allows you to save it right to your business.
Quick Questions:
Why The Progrum?
Well, ever hear older folk, the ones who ushered in the era of TV, say program? Like, Thats my favorite progrum on the TV. Its just a play on that. This VODcasting thing is new, and it reminds me of when TV first started. Its cool, under used, powerful, but really temperamental and buggy, and it will be very commonplace very soon. That also explains the retro imagery on the site. Oh yeah, that and the fact that I like retro imagery on my site.
Why no Windows media files?
I like QuickTime better; its not as ubiquitous as WMV, but it is what I use on the Mac, and it is free for my PC friends as well. I think the compressions look better, and QuickTime is scrollable. If you would like to download The Progrum and convert it to WMV (without altering it in any other way) be my guest. Scatter The Progrum all around the net.
What is your schedule?
Well, we do what we can we can. Nothing in stone. Like to hit weekly, but who knows? Isnt it more fun if its a surprise anyway?
Whats the dealio with the big link in the top left that says "phone" or some junk?
That link is located there so that Mobile Phone internet users can see it quickly. It links to our simplified list of .3GPP fils that work well on mobile phones. You can also download that version if you are on dial-up. Some users have had them download as text files. Just remove the ".txt" extension on the filename, and make sure it ends with ".3gp" and QuickTime will handle it just fine.
Creative Commons? That sounds pretty heavy. What is it?
The Creative Commons thing allows you to redistribute, share, replay, and host the VODcast on your own site. You just have to give us credit for creating it. You also cannot sell it. And you can't alter it. Note that the VODcast is the ONLY part that is under the Creative Commons License. The rest of the timstotz.com site is Copyrighted normally as stated.
Widget? What you talkin' 'bout, Willis?
I'm developing a Widget for The Progrum. Go here to find out more...
